From Cambridge Labs to Global Impact:
This is the RealVNC Story

RealVNC isn’t your typical tech company.

Not many software companies can claim a legacy spanning over 25 years, especially one built on technology they invented themselves.

But we can.

Born from groundbreaking research at Cambridge’s legendary Olivetti & Oracle Research Laboratory in the late 1990s, our founders created Virtual Network Computing (VNC), forever changing the way the world connects remotely.

Millions of users in 160+ countries trust RealVNC

What started as a groundbreaking idea quickly became something people can’t live without. Today, millions of users in 160+ countries trust RealVNC for secure, reliable remote access.

From scrappy open-source beginnings to industry-leading products, we’ve evolved a lot, but one thing has stayed exactly the same: We never stop innovating.

Tristan Richardson

“We didn’t set out to build a business. We just wanted to solve a problem: How to access a computer anywhere in the world as easily as if you were sitting in front of it. That simple idea became the foundation of everything we do.”

Tristan Richardson, RealVNC Technical Founder and VNC principal architect

“Innovation isn’t about chasing trends. It’s about staying true to your vision and continuously pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. That’s the RealVNC way.”
