On-Demand Webinar & Report
Emerging Threats in Remote Access Security
The threat landscape is accelerating. AI is lowering the barrier to sophisticated attacks, hybrid work has permanently expanded the attack surface, and many IT teams are more confident in their security posture than the evidence justifies. In this on-demand webinar, host Nick Cavalancia is joined by Anthony Porter, Senior Security Architect at CSA Cyber, Oskar Grainger, Cyber Security Engineer at RealVNC, and Anton Zdziebczok, VP of Product at RealVNC, to explore RealVNC’s latest research into the gap between perception and reality in remote access security.

Go deeper into the findings with the full report: Emerging Threats in Remote Access Security, a RealVNC Research Report.
- The Confidence Gap: 66% of IT professionals feel very or extremely confident in their remote access security, yet 47% still experienced an incident in the last 24 months, and 55% of that confident group were among them.
- The AI Threat is Already Here: Phishing tops the fear list at 55%, but AI-driven attacks (47%) now sit almost level with ransomware (48%), and respondents expect both to accelerate over the next 12 to 24 months.
- The Cost of Free Tools: Organizations relying on open-source or free remote access tools experienced incidents at a 64% rate. Those using business-grade commercial solutions saw that figure drop to 33%.
- Tool Sprawl Creates Real Risk: Running just one remote access tool puts incident rates at 28%. Organizations using four to five tools reported a 67% rate. That’s more than double. More tools do not mean more protection.
- Future Confidence is Slipping: Only 16% feel extremely confident about the next three years. One in four organizations admit they are not confident, or only slightly confident, that their current strategy will keep pace with emerging threats.
