VNC® Viewer for iOS
Getting connected to a computer
VNC® Viewer is now available for the iPhone and iPod touch. You can download it on the iPhone App Store.
You can connect VNC Viewer to any computer running VNC-compatible Server technology. This includes:
- Mac computers with Screen Sharing or Remote Desktop turned on (incorporated in Mac OS X 10.4 onwards). Note that VNC viewers may control screen with password (in Computer Settings) must first be enabled, and a password set.
- Mac, Windows, UNIX, and Linux computers running VNC Enterprise Edition 4.x from RealVNC.
- Windows computers running VNC Personal Edition 4.x from RealVNC.
- Windows, UNIX, and Linux computers running VNC Free Edition 4.1 from RealVNC.
- Computers running third-party VNC-compatible Servers.
Note that VNC Viewer can only connect securely to VNC Server incorporated in VNC Enterprise Edition or VNC Personal Edition. For more information on these products, visit www.realvnc.com.
The following instructions explain how to set up your computer and connect from VNC Viewer. Some of these instructions are specific to VNC Server incorporated in the latest versions of VNC Enterprise Edition and VNC Personal Edition; these sections are clearly marked. Other instructions apply irrespective of which VNC-compatible Server technology you use.

- Install and start VNC Server.
- Identify VNC Server.
- If necessary, configure VNC Server.
- If necessary, configure the network.
- Connect from VNC Viewer.
- If necessary, troubleshoot connections.
