How to start screen sharing on a Mac<\/span><\/h2>\n

Before we check out Mac screen sharing with a VNC port<\/span>, <\/span>you need to know how to enable screen sharing on a Mac. These are the Mac screen-sharing settings that will get you up and running:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Choose <\/span>Apple menu<\/b> > <\/span>System Settings<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Click on <\/span>General<\/b> in the sidebar.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Click <\/span>Sharing<\/b> on the right\u2014you might have to scroll down to do this. (If you see that <\/span>Remote Management<\/b> is turned on, make sure you turn it off (you can\u2019t run it at the same time as <\/span>Screen Sharing<\/b>).<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Turn on <\/span>Screen Sharing<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Hit the Info<\/b> button on the right.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Now you\u2019ll have to choose who can share your screen. If you select <\/span>All Users<\/b>, any of your computer\u2019s users can share your screen (apart from guest users and sharing-only users).<\/span><\/p>\n

    If you select<\/span> Only These Users<\/b>, screen sharing will be restricted to specific users (which you pick from Users & Groups, Network Users, or Network Groups).<\/span><\/p>\n

    Mac screen sharing using RealVNC Connect<\/span><\/h2>\n

    So, now we know<\/span> how to allow screen sharing on Mac, it\u2019s time to learn how to do it with<\/span> RealVNC Connect<\/span><\/a>. The remote access solution is made up of <\/span>VNC Server v7 (or try our new unified app with RealVNC Connect v8), and RealVNC Viewer. You\u2019ll need to install RealVNC Server on the Mac you\u2019re controlling remotely, and RealVNC Viewer on the device you\u2019re controlling it from.<\/p>\n

    We should point out that this latter device doesn\u2019t have to be a Mac! Of course, it can be, but RealVNC Viewer also works on many other platforms.     Install RealVNC Server on the Mac you\u2019re controlling<\/span><\/h3>\n

    Before you start<\/span> screen sharing for Mac, you need to install RealVNC Server (which requires a license) on the machine you want to control.<\/span><\/p>\n
