Web Application Test Engineer
We’re looking for a talented software test engineer to test our web applications.
RealVNC® is a highly successful software company based in Cambridge (UK) city centre. As the original developers of VNC® remote access technology our software is used by hundreds of millions of users worldwide from the non-technical home user to IT professionals from global companies, such as Intel, IBM, NASA, Shell, DreamWorks and Philips.
Our products allow people to remotely access computers simply and securely, and are supported by a number of business critical web applications. We’re looking for a talented and enthusiastic test engineer to join the test team responsible for keeping them running smoothly. You’ll get a chance to contribute to our flagship VNC product line and our SDKs which allow other developers to embed VNC technology into their own applications. You’d work on a rage of web apps, from the RealVNC website to the portals that allow customers to manage their remote access estates.
Embedded within one of our development teams you'll be involved in all aspects of testing, from requirements analysis to regression testing. You'll be given the freedom to use whatever mix of manual and automated tests you feel is most appropriate so a good understanding of what goes on ‘under the hood’ of a web application is essential. Additionally, you will help maintain and improve our suite of Selenium regression tests, as well as the framework which supports them.We like to think we have a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. - are passionate about testing and the role it
plays in producing great software
- have an understanding of:
- Web technologies (e.g. HTTP, TLS/SSL, REST)
- Networking technologies (e.g. IP addresses, DNS,
DHCP, TCP/IP, UDP)
- are comfortable programming in Python, Java or a
- are familiar with operating systems other than
Windows, e.g. Mac OS X, Linux, or other
- are happy working with a command line interface
- are confident with manual testing techniques,
including exploratory testing
- have a passion for technology and the ability to
pick things up quickly
- are able to communicate technical ideas clearly,
with excellent written and spoken
