VNC® Personal Edition 4.5 - Release Notes
Introduction
Below are the release notes for version 4.5. You can also read the release notes for versions 4.4.x and earlier. There is also a list of known bugs in version 4.5.
VNC Personal Edition 4.5.1 - released 29th July 2009
- FIXED: VNC Server is patched against a local privilege escalation vulnerability in Service Mode.
More details available here. - FIXED: Windows 7 no longer reports "The operation completed successfully" when a connection fails.
- FIXED: VNC Server in User Mode no longer crashes when a fast user switch occurs.
- FIXED: VNC Server now interprets CTRL-J, CTRL-H, CTRL-I, and CTRL-[ correctly.
- FIXED: VNC Server now removes desktop backgrounds properly.
- FIXED: The
ZlibLevelExpert tab setting is now restricted to values in the range -1 to 9. - FIXED: VNC Address Book connections now open irrespective of whether the Master Password is remembered or not.
VNC Personal Edition 4.5 - released 12th May 2009
- NEW: Print files to the default printer attached to the computer running VNC Viewer.
- NEW: Copy and paste non-ASCII text.
- NEW: Connect to VNC Server using IPv6 addresses (if enabled on system).
- NEW: VNC Server provides notification when users connect.
- NEW: Basic Windows 7 support.
- Improved VNC Chat now supported cross-platform, and launched from the VNC Viewer toolbar.
- Improved foreign language support. Better foreign keyboard handling, including dead keys.
- Improved VNC Server UI for filtering IP addresses.
- Improved line-speed estimation for adapting to network speed.
- Improved VNC Server Status dialog and diagnosis tools.
- Improved handling of CAPS LOCK and NUM LOCK keys.
- Improved VNC Address Book: Import/export of connections, better protection for encrypted passwords, connect using new "quick launch" bar, and new UI options to start minimized and on Windows start-up.
- Improved shut down behaviour only disconnects users at the last possible moment on power off.
- FIXED: Intermittent file transfer failure.
- FIXED: Intermittent failure when connecting via Single sign-on to versions of VNC Server prior to 4.5.
