VNC Enterprise Edition 4.4 - Release Notes

Introduction

Below are the release notes for version 4.4. You can also read the release notes for versions 4.3.x and earlier. There is also a list of known bugs in version 4.4.

VNC Enterprise Edition 4.4.2 - released 17th June 2008

  • Improved behaviour of "Use these settings for all connections" option in VNC Viewer.

VNC Enterprise Edition for Windows changes

  • Added UAC prompt when stopping or starting VNC Server in Service-Mode on Vista.
  • FIXED: "AES authentication error" using single sign-on with no encryption.
  • FIXED: Failure to single sign-on between Windows and UNIX on some systems.
  • FIXED: Blue screen installing VNC Mirror Driver over RDP.
  • FIXED: VNC Viewer flickering when server screen blanking is enabled.
  • FIXED: Cannot disable the option to remember the Master Password in VNC Address Book.
  • FIXED: VNC Address Book crash if the window is scrolled while renaming an entry.
  • FIXED: Occasional "Bad obfuscated password length" error using encrypted passwords with VNC Address Book.

VNC Enterprise Edition for UNIX changes

  • NEW: Added support for AIX.
  • FIXED: Licensing directory created with the wrong permissions.
  • FIXED: Copy and paste not working with x0vncserver.
  • FIXED: VNC Viewer crash if quit while in full screen mode on some systems.
  • FIXED: VNC Server crashes with some keyboard layouts.
  • FIXED: Errors during file transfer block x0vncserver.
  • FIXED: Single sign-on auto-configuration not working correctly on 64-bit systems.
  • FIXED: UNIX password authentication not using PAM on some modern systems.
  • FIXED: Error message when deleting directories from VNC Address Book.
  • FIXED: Troubleshooting ("details") hyperlink unavailable in some situations despite VNC Server not accepting connections.
  • FIXED: vnc.so module not serving Java viewer by default.
  • FIXED: VNC Address Book crash when creating a new entry.

  • First release of E4.4.x for Mac OS X.

  • FIXED: Query connect dialog sometimes opens behind other windows.
  • FIXED: Mirror driver problem capturing sub-pixel rendering.
  • FIXED: Occasional failure to restore desktop effects such as alpha-blended icon text and the Aero user interface on disconnect.

  • FIXED: File transfer fails for User-Mode servers on Windows XP and later.

VNC Enterprise Edition for UNIX changes

  • NEW: Better integration with Gnome and KDE, including a server status icon in desktop environments that support this, integration into the Applications menu and support for .vnc files.
  • Added support for desktop resizing to Xvnc, x0vncserver and the vnc.so module.
  • Added full support for desktop scaling to VNC Viewer.
  • Improved x0vncserver mouse and screen capture efficiency.
  • Added clipboard support to x0vncserver.
  • Improved support for palettised displays.
  • FIXED: Potential shared memory leak.
