VNC Enterprise Edition 4.2 - release notes

VNC Enterprise Edition 4.2.9

General changes

  • FIXED: Potential inconsistent behaviour when using pointer event rate-limiting.

VNC Enterprise Edition for Windows Changes

  • Events including network activity notifications are now handled more fairly.
  • FIXED: VNC Viewer failed to reposition desktop correctly when resizing in full-screen mode.
  • FIXED: VNC Server could fail to enter text into Command-Prompts due to Windows layout handling bug.
  • FIXED: VNC Server did not allow Shift+Space key sequence.
  • FIXED: VNC Server closing connection with "desktop in use" error in some environments.

VNC Enterprise Edition for Unix Changes

  • RestrictVncConfig now accepts X clients that were authenticated via any normal means.
  • FIXED: Domain-keyed licensing sometimes crashes with "Bus error" performing reverse-DNS lookup.

General changes

  • FIXED: Guest login was not available in version 4.2.7.

VNC Enterprise Edition for Windows Changes

  • VNC Viewer now disables local IMEs by default.
  • FIXED: VNC Server could quit unexpectedly on logoff/user-switch under Windows Vista.
  • FIXED: VNC Server configuration applet failing to open under Windows Vista.

General changes

  • VNC Viewer now defaults to the current username if required.
  • FIXED: Connections are sometimes not cleaned up correctly.

  • Improved VNC session interactivity while transferring files.
  • FIXED: Saving .vnc files from the Connection Details dialog fails.
  • FIXED: Files sometimes transferred as zero length.

  • Removed dependency on libstdc++.
  • Xvnc will now run on systems without PAM installed. Password, shadow password and NIS/NIS+ authentication is supported on such systems, but more complex configurations are not.
  • FIXED: Support for inetd wait mode.
