RealVNC 4.1.3 on Windows XP Professional - service not starting promptly (if at all) pre-login

I have had to have a new build of Windows on my work laptop. I have  
installed RealVNC on it but I am not sure it is starting the service  
before I log in. If it is, it is taking such a long time it may as  
well not be.

How can I speed this up? I frequently use the laptop using x2vnc, and  
doing so also lets me type my credentials using Dvorak layout, making  
matters a little easier, but it does not appear to be happening before  
login at the moment.

I have set the service password.
