Ruth,
Perhaps, the thing to do in this case, don't use VNC. VNC/Xvnc is
essentially mimicking an X11/Xserver display on the remote server
(aka remote frame buffer). By the time the X11/Xserver objects reach
the VNCviewer on your local host, everything has turned into pixels.
One choice might be to run RFT on that remote server with an actual
X11/Xserver display manager and run RFT on the remote server as well.
Another option might be to run RFT plus an X11/Xserver display
manager on your local host and configure the DISPLAY on the remote
server to use that X11/Xwindows display manager on your local host.
There are several X11/Xserver implementations available for Windows**.
In both case, my assumption is that RFT *does* work with X11/Xservers
and handles object finding, etc. I can not attest to that since I am
not familiar with RFT.
