Sorry you might have missed the terminology. With vnc, the machine you 
like to see is called the server side, the machine you are using is 
called the client. Hence the other line: See 'Preferences -> 
RemoteDesktop'. There you can setup the ubuntu machine so you can see 
the console from the windows machine.

For your information, vnc comes from unix and is capable on doing much 
more on unix and linux systems than it can on msWindows based machines. 
There are even linux installers that can boot with a 'vnc' option so you 
can use a vncviewer to do the installation remote.

It is also fairly easy (well, if you know linux/unix and X11 a little 
bit) to create a terminal-server kind of setup with which you get a new 
login session at every vnc-connection you make and hence use the linux 
machine with more than 1 person.
