     Here're the first thumb of rules to reduce the possible scope of
problem cause:
1. Do a ping to the VNC server's computer.  Use pure IP address first.
 Do you get any reply? If no, then you've probably got network problem
OR your VNC server's computer is blocking ping (a firewall?)  Make
sure your VNC server's computer's firewall is correctly configured to
let in ping (and VNC if it's also blocked) and try again.

2. If ping works, telnet to the server computer (to port 5900) and see
if you get something like "RFB 003.008".  If no, then the problem is
probably the server.
