Black screen

Dear All,
 
                 I have installed a VNC viwer 4.1 in my XP prof  and wanted to connecto VNC server of a XP prof PC at remote that is Over WAN. My XP PC is conected to a CISCO 3550 switch on a Gbic port and then a OFC then media converter then via RJ 45 to another switch and to my main WAN. I have connectivity as well data flow. I can connecto the PC at remote but I am getting a Black screen. Wen i run VNC server and he connects me, he too get a black screen , Can anyone help please,
