Weird keyboard layout problem

I have gone over to using a UK Dvorak keyboard layout on virtually
every system I use.
My laptop has RealVNC 4.1.1 on it and when at my desk at work I use
x2vnc 1.1 to operate it from my Solaris box.
The Dvorak keyboard layouts work just fine, producing the right
characters, on the local machines.
However, over x2vnc, a few keys from the remote computer seem to be wrong.
The `/, key does not work.
The '/@ key works as the `/, key.
The #/~ key works as the '/@ key.
The \/| key works as the #/~ key.
I have not found a key that works as \/|.
All other keys work as expected.
Why would this happen? It is strange that all works fine on the local
machine but not the remote one.
