Xvnc solaris - Background Window Refresh

I've been using an older version of VNC for some time now, 3.3.7, which
good results.  I've recently come across a problem that I could use some
help with.

 

I have 1-5 VncViewers connecting at the same time to an Xvnc server, all
solaris boxes.  My application displaying to the Xvnc server has a
google maps type of background, and that background is not consistently
being updated on the Viewers.  Seems almost stalled sometimes.  

I know the Windows version has some options as to how to poll or force
refreshes, but I don't see anything like that for the unix side.  Am I
missing it, or is there another way?

 

Any insight or suggestions you might have are greatly appreciated.
