Hm, there do seem to be some clients that allow connection to VNC on
SSL, without too much hassle to the user:

* http://www.karlrunge.com/x11vnc/ssvnc.html
* ...?
Also, there's NoMachine's NX client which somehow supports VNC - gotta
check this out (actually, I tried it some time ago - successfully).
Maybe that'll provide a smooth solution. The NX protocol itself is
unsuitable, since unfortunately, it only allows one viewer per session,
i.e. shared sessions aren't possible.
