VNC Clinet attempt to connect with VNC Server fails with "read: Connection aborted(10053)"

I downloaed the lastest version of the Free VNC.

The server is installed on Windows Vista Home Premium.

The client is installed on Windows XP Pro

When I attempt to connect I get a message box with "read: Connection
aborted(10053) Do you wish to reconnect to <servername>:5900"

If I click "Yes" the same thing happens.

Up until this evening I had the trial version of Personal VNC installed an
it worked great although I seem to remember something like this early on but
don't recall what fixed it. It may have just gone away.

Do I have a valid installation with the Free edition?
