Sometimes a Windows Update may turn it back on. Most software firewalls ask
you to switch off any other firewall to avoid confusion.

Good, but have you set up which ever firewall you have running on the client
to only accept incoming connections on port 5500 from the IP address of the
server? Otherwise, you are leaving your machine open to the Internet and
potential threat of intrusion.
