Enterprise Edition license key is missing, invalid or has expired

Good day all and Happy New Year...
 
I am installing VNC Enterprise Edition 4.2.7 on my WindowsXP box and I get
an error when entering my license key.  I have the receipt from when I
purchased it and I have both copied/pasted and hand entered the license key,
to no avail.
 
I purchased the Enterprise Edition (v4) in July of 2005.  I read on the site
where licenses are perpetual, but support is not.  My support expired in
July of 2006, so they won't allow me to contact them unless I pay $25.  Does
anyone have any idea why my key would suddenly expire even though it was a
perpetual license?
