Problems with VNC connections

We have purchased the VNC for Mac for the office (National Bridle Shop in 
Lewisburg Tn) and I work at home remotely.  At home I have the free edition 
VNC Viewern for Windows.  I have only been able to log in twice since setting 
this up.  I was on dial up then but now I am on ethernet at home. I am getting 
a timeout connection 10060. VNC is setup at work to receive connections.  I am 
getting a connection via VPN to work. I just cannot get logged to the MAC. 
What do I need to do? Please help.
