>From the comments attached to that bug report, this appears to boil down to
the latest Gnome apps not coping if some particular X extension isn't
provided by Xvnc. I remember Gnome apps failing to run if the X keyboard
extension wasn't present in the past, so it wouldn't surprise me if a
similar "requirement" had crept in.
If you look at the log output from a failed server, you should be able to
tell which extension or request is failing.
