MY IP-Adress on Verizon Online

The Westell page is the configuration page of the DSL modem/router that was
provided by Verizon. This box takes a PUBLIC IP address (the one you get
when you do a "whois" on IRC) and bridges it to a 'Private' IP address on
the local side of the Westell box.

You would use that PUBLIC address to access VNC from anywhere outside of
your friend's home. Let's say you were at your home and wanted to use VNC to
access your friend's computer. You would type in that other address. The
Westell router would need to be configured with the means to forward any
traffic on port 5900 to your friend's computer (the 192.168.1.47 address)

I hope that this helps to explain what you saw and what you need to do.

Gregg

Subject: MY IP-Adress on Verizon Online

Hello, everybody!

If you are a Verizon Online customer, please respond to me, (including you
are not a customer, but knows how to do something, you can reply)...

I am not a familiar person with Verizon Online, but I am visiting a friend's
apartment with a DSL. I am a able person. Here is the problem with my
friend's VNC. since she is still using VNC 3.3.7 (I will upgrade it later
today or next week), and I went to VNC Server and clicked on it. It loaded
into a tray. I checked her IP address. I was amazd at this!

It said 192.168.1.47 but that is not the connction IP address. When my
friend went to Internet Relay Chat, i did a /whois my friend, and her real
IP address was a different from 192.168.1.47. It seems like a firewall
addresss. I wnt to the Internet Explorer to try this, I noticed that the
link was cached! I found it was 192.168.1.1 so, I found it is a home page of
Westell. I got puzzled!!

Can anyone of you help me how to fix this? I need to understand how to fix
this

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
John Cunniff
