Microsoft XP Remote Desktop as Client?

Can the Remote Desktop utility built into Windows XP be used as the 
client to connect to a VNC server?
Currently we have to upgrade workstations to XP so that our users can 
remote desktop from home to work.
We have a lot of Windows 2000 machines that I would like to use VNC 
servers on instead of upgrading them to XP.
Rather than having our users intall the VNC client at home I'd like them 
to use Microsoft's Remote Desktop as the client.
