SelectObject to CompatibleDC Failed: The operation completed successfully

i dont use RDP or Fast-User switching and I was encountering the 
"SelectObject to CompatibleDC Failed: The operation completed successfully" 
message connecting to a vnc server.
it was determined that someone alt-entered/fullscreened an ms-dos prompt and 
left it in that state on that particular vnc server. as soon as i took the 
dos prompt out of full screen i was able to connect to VNC remotely again.
