VNC server behind router

Hi. I'm a todal newbie having trouble wrapping my head around what VNC is doing & how to config it.

I have VNC server running on a WinXP box attached to a router. I've opened up ports 5900 & 5800 (yikes!) on the router. I went to whatismyip.com & subscribed to a domain name in order to static-ize the dynamic ip assigned by the cable company.

When I send my VNC viewer to mydomain:0, it returns with the error: unable to connect to host: Connection refused (10061)

I want to test VNC to see if it will be useful for my wife to use to connect her home business laptop (WinXP) to a client's workplace.

I'd like to tunnel to the workplace machine or something, but don't know how to set that up on a WinXP box.
