For SuSE, you best can use yast to provide remote-administration. Then 
point the vncviewer to "machine:10" or "machine:11" and see that you get 
a fresh login screen, not related to the console.

While on the SuSE console, there is also a way to open vnc for that, 
however I cannot recall how. It is somewhere in the kde or gnome setup.
