VNC only works one-way now

Same here. It's been crazy. Thank you so much for your very detailed pictures
and instruction. Unfortunately, this is exactly how I have mine set up and the
versions are the same. This used to work with this configuration, then just
stopped working. I've seen a few posts where the same thing has happened to a
few others and someone suggested it might be due to a Microsoft update, but
how to tell?
I've also forwarded the correct ports (TCP & UDP for 5500, 5800 & 5900), even
though I used to be able to connect without forwarding the ports before I
started having this problem. In other words, it used to work perfectly just as
you've described, then it inexplicably stopped working, I forwarded the ports,
and it still doesn't work. Sheesh. Computers suck. Lol.
Well, thanks again for all of your valuable time. I've read that we can put
the Viewer into "Listening" mode, so I'll give that a try. If that doesn't
work, I'm going to uninstall and reinstall both instances of VNC (I see that
v4.2 is now available) and hope that fixes my problem. I'll let you know if
that does anything.
One other weird thing that is not happening as it should on both computers is
I'm not getting the full IP address listed when I hover my cursor over the VNC
Server icon in the system tray, only the local IP address:
(My server says (User) as opposed to (Service); I guess because I'm using the
The "VNC Server test page" successfully connects to port 5900:
The IP address requesting this web page is xx.xx.xxx.xxx (x's put in by me)
Connecting to port 5900 ... succeeded.
Waiting for server to send version string...
Found a server supporting protocol version 3.8.
I just find it very odd that the VNC server test page can detect and connect
to my server, but not anyone else.
