connection rejection

I'd considered that, but I can find nothing else wrong with the router -
went thru everything last nigh, all else works. If it is the router, then
it's only broken for VNC, and I find that hard to believe. I'll run thru the
event log again.

that your router is broken.

You should check the event log on your server computer for the incoming
connection attempts - if they are there at all then they'll indicate why the
connection closed.
