When connection closed, programs started remotely will stop

Hi all! I use VNC (Free Ed.) to control my sister's computer remotely. She didn't know how to use a dvd burner software and I tried to help her. I accessed to her computer and launched the dvd burner program. I selected the data to burn and started the process. I disconnected from server before the data was burnt completely. (It was gonna take quite a bit long). The problem is that when the connection was closed, the dvd burner program was stopped/closed automatically. Is that a normal behavior of VNC server? Any program an VNC client starts is stopped when client disconnects? Is there an option to change in the configuration?  Many thanks. -David
