>From what I understood, you have two routers: one on the server side,
and one on the client side, am I correct? In that case, did you
forward ports on both routers? If you didn't, then that is probably
the problem. Also, if you are using the Java VNC viewer, then the
server doesn't use port 5900, it uses 5800. Moreover, what display
number is the server using? The port used for the connection is
determined by the display number such that:
     port = 5900 + <display_number>
     java_port = 5800 + <display_number>
So, for example, if the display number is 1, the ports that you need
to forward are 5901 and/or 5801.

I don't know if this is your situation, but these are just some
problems that I thought you might be facing.
