FW: VNC Server only seems to work on every second reboot of server

Dear VNC List,

I have the latest free VNC viewer and server version 4.1.1 (build date:
March 11 2005)

I seem to be observing a problem:

I have a virtual server which is running Windows 2000 Server and has the
free VNC server setup OK.
(Virtual server software from vmware)

Every second outage of the server will not accept a session from the VNC
viewer on the client PCs. (I use remote terminal services to then
restart the server.)

I need VNC or something like it, rather than remote terminal services as
this is the only way I can connect to the console type session in
Win200o server.

The product being run dictates Windows 2000 server rather than Windows
2003 server. (apparently Win2003 server has option to connect to console
via remote terminal services).

Any suggestions on why VNC server only works upon every second server
restart?

I did a Google search on "Connection reset by peer (10054)" and got some
results but no solutions ...

I can't see anything obvious in the event log.

I guess I could give up and just include instructions to use remote
terminal services to restart the server when this happens ...
