Actually, all you SHOULD have to do is make sure it looks something like
this (from Fedora Core 3):
#!/bin/sh
# Red Hat Linux VNC session startup script
exec /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc
That should be good enough, unless you don't have a GUI configured to run
locally on the linux box.

Hello Johnathon,
You will have to modify the xstartup file which is available in your .vnc
directory.
>From your home directory you have to change to .vnc directory
You will have to edit xstartup file you will have twm &
Change it to one
gnome-session & [ for Gnome ]

start-kde & [ for kde ]
TWM - twm & [ remove this line ]
You need to logout and login to get graphical window

Subject: running vnc server on linux server
Hello
A newbie question
I am wanting to manage my linux server remotely using vnc.
I have installed and started vnc on my linux server
I use vnc viewer on my desktop pc and get connected to the linux vnc server
fine.
What I see though is a console window in my viewer.
What I want to see is the Graphical desktop from the server
Any guidance will be appreciated
Thanks in advance
Johnathon
