Help needed to VNC from Windows to my Linux Desktop

Hello,

I am a newbie to VNC and have trouble accesing my
desktop at Linux.

The configuration :-
I am trying to connect from Windows XP (home) to Red
hat Linux 4 (office) machine.
I am using VNC Viewer Enterpise Edition 4.1.4 from my
home Windows machione to conenct to my office machine.

My problem :-
VNCViewer never asks me for the username(its disabled
when I start the viewer) with which to connet to.
Hence although I am able to see my desktop runnung on
My work Linix machine - I am unable to start the Email
client and even the FireFox Browser.

It says that these applications are already locked and
I should hence create abother user.
This means that I will not be able to access my
Bookmarks on my FireFox browser at home?
Also i will not be able to use the Email Client
running on my work Linux machine?

Please let me know what am I doing worng.
