Testing a connection to vnclistener

Hi all,
I have written a wrapper for winvnc so that a user doesn't have to
configure it to connect to our listener. With some users, their IT guys
have blocked lots of ports which thus stops us from using vnc to help
them. What I would like to do in our wrapper program, is to use the
mswinsock control to try to connect to the listener first.
Has anyone got any example vb code to see if a connection can be made to
a vnc viewer at a particular address and port number?
Cheers all,
