Dennis,
The fact that VNC Server won't accept connections except on the localhost
interface on port 5900 suggests that something else is using that port,
which is obviously a very bad thing since port 5900 is the standard RFB port
number used by VNC.
You may wish to run netstat -abn to list all the open ports and which
process is holding them open - look for port 5900 and this should show what
it is that is causing you problems.
