Having Problems with NVC

I am trying to connect between two computers both using Win XP Pro.  I have tried connecting to both from both computers and am having NO luck so far either way.  If I run the viewer and put my own VNC IP address in, it will connect, but if I put in the VNC IP address of the other computer, I just get error messages like Connection refused (10060).  I tried pinging the other computer and received back the packets just fine.  I opened the Windows Firewall and made sure all the VNC programs were listed in exceptions.  I am at a loss as to what to do.  Any suggestions?
