Or you could just install the compat-libstdc++ 
<http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/3/i386/os/Fedora/RPMS/compat-libstdc%2b%2b-8-3.3.4.2.i386.rpm> 
rpm, which is provided so as to give computability between different 
versions of GCC / libstdc++. Here's the info page (on my local mirror):
