Done the port forward.
Tried disabling Norton.
Firewall is permanently off.
Still no response on 5900?

Connection refused usually means that it cannot reach the port.
SO, a couple things to try:
When at home (the server end):
go to http://www.canyouseeme.org/
and scan for 5900
If this says closed, then it is being blocked at your router or your pc.
First make sure the router has a port forward set-up
Second double check the xp firewall
third if you are running any type of antivirus shut it completely
down, along with any other "security" tools you have.
As you perform these steps keep checking the status of 5900 from the
web page. At some point you will find your culprit.
If it says success on the web page, try again from work if it is
blocked then work may be blocking otraffic, the only way to verify
would be to try from another remote location.
