Just Showing the Desktop

James,

yes, I can disable mouse pointer effects etc. on my machine (VNC
Server); the same can be done by he or her who intends to watch my
presentation (VNC Viewer).

My configuration would be:
My PC --> Router (Dynamic IP) --> Customer's PC
I've found info on that in the FAQ's of www.realvnc.com.

I've understood this info in a way that I got the impression that (a) it
is too complicated for a potential customer (who possibly will be even
much less technically experienced than myself) to make all the view-only
settings, get through my router etc., and (b) while sharing my desktop
in view-only mode with an interlocutor, I fear that I'd open up my
computer to anybody else.

Is that solvable with VNC? Is all this solved by default?

Matthias

<Q> Matthias,
<Q>
<Q> VNC already has view-only options in the server, so that
<Q> you can set up
<Q> views for customer presentations on your computer and allow
<Q> them to connect,
<Q> without any risk of them being able to affect the machine
<Q> in question.
