What is contents of .vnc files

I've been hunting the web fairly hard trying to find documentation on .vnc
files.

Can someone point to a web site with information on this configuration file.

I have about 15 PCs (winXP) I wish to monitor in a temporary standalone
network, and don't want to manually configure each connection.
i.e. I currently manually set view only, polling, jpeg compression and 1/4
or 1/5 scaling as I logon to each box.

Have just downloaded VNC Manager, but haven't had a chance to try it yet.
Even if I can't setup connection options permanently, at least I should be
able to browse IP addresses.

I have used shortcuts and added to the parameters with some of the
command-line options, but thought the .vnc files sounded a better option.

Thoughts, opinions, ...?
