Hello,

I have the following problem and would be happy if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I have a Linux machine on which I run vncserver.
I'd like to connect to that machine from my Windows 2000 machine by using the viewer (vnc-4.0-x86_win32_viewer.exe).

When I start the viewer I specify as server [ip address linux machine]:1

When I do that the "VNC Viewer : Connection Details" window just disappears. In the task manager I can see the process vnc-4.0-x86_win, but the CPU time is 00:00, and no window is shown. The logfile on the linux machine shows the following

09/09/2004 18:33:09 Got connection from client [ip address client]
09/09/2004 18:33:09 Protocol version 3.8
09/09/2004 18:33:09 Ignoring minor version mismatch

I am aware of the line "... version mismatch ...", but can that be the reason for the behaviour.

When I try to get the vnc connection via the web browser through the URL http://[linux machine]:5801, it works fine.

If anybody has an idea what's wrong, please let me know.

Regards

Dirk
