DSL vs. Cable

Hi, all!

I had wanted to use VNC to connect with someone's
computer that connects using cable, and therefore has
a router (not to mention Windows XP). But she's not
willing to let me go in and start messing with her
router, firewall, etc.

However, she's going to be going to her winter home
soon, and has a DSL connection there. She thinks
we'll be able to connect without all the hoo-hah. But
will we? Do DSL connections typically use routers?
Or will I not have to worry about that? And would she
likely not have a dynamic IP with DSL?

'Course I think that still leaves me having to have
her disable her firewall for VNC.....

Thanks!

Mary
