Many questions

I read your initial description more carefully this time. Your linksys router is reporting that its WAN IP
is 10.10.5.2. That IP address is a non routing IP address. It sounds like your Linksys Network
Everywhere Hub is connected to another router on another LAN. When you use IPChicken the IP
address of 67.137.253.2 being reported is the IP that the internet sees. You would need to have
access to the router providing the 10.10.5.2 address so you can direct it to port forward VNC traffic
to your 4 port Linksys router.

Well, first of all, I have become so overwhelmed with LANs and WANs that I
can hardly think straight. So please bear with me.
Can I VNC from one machine to another using the LAN IP - is the LAN IP the
IP address of each computer? I always thought it was, but I'm not sure
anymore. Here's what I've got in hopes that it solves something:
one computer has the IP address of 192.168.2.101
another has the IP address 192.168.2.102
Using these addresses, I can VNC from one to another. But when I use the
67.137.253.2 address I can't VNC. However, my router configuration page
says that my WAN IP address is 10.10.5.2 and when I use THIS address, I can
VNC between these two computers.
Hope this helps!

Are you able to VNC from one machine on the LAN to another using the LAN IP?
That would tell
you that the server on the machine is working okay. If that doesn't work
then you need to solve that
problem first.
Are the machines running XP service pack 2? If so, SP2 installed a firewall
and you need to open
up the port so VNC traffic can get through.

Hello -
I am new to VNC and networking in general. I apologize if I am asking
"simple" questions, but they are mine and I do need to know.
I am trying to setup VNC in my small office for a few of my machines. I am
starting to wonder if the network setup might be impacting my ability to
properly set everything up.
We have a line coming into our office connecting into the "Uplink" port of a
Linksys Network Everywhere Hub, Model No. NH1005. From this hub a cable
runs out of Port 1 into the WAN port of a Linksys Wireless Access Point
Router with 4-port switch, model no. BEFW11S4. I have three machines
plugged into some of these ports. I have set up port forwarding on the
Wireless Router so that any VNC activity to our IP address should go to a
particular machine. But something is not working because my connection is
always denied.
The IP address is 67.137.253.2 - of course, I get that address for any of
the three machines when I use one of the IP-discerning sites such as
IPChicken.
Does anyone have an idea of what I might need to change? Is the hub
"getting in the way"? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
That's it from here. More to come as the plot thickens...
