Accessing VNC via Browser

Hi everyone,
I am new to VNC and to this mailing list.  I have read a few comments on connecting via web browser, but I couldn't figure it out yet.  I was wondering if anybody would tell me in details what I need to do to connect via the browser.  
I am able to connect to my computer using VNC and Terminal Services from outside my network by configuring port numbers in the router.  I have tried to configure the port 5803 but that didn't work.  I don't really know what else to try.  I was told all I needed was java and a web browser.
