Heh - I get more copies of viruses from VNC users than I get legitimate
emails from all of my VNCScan customers and friends combined. I agree
that someone or many someones have my email address in their contacts
from this list and every time that one of them get infected, I hear
about it!

You get into the address books of many email clients if the user replies
to a single email that you sent to the list. Once you're in their
address book, you're a target for any virus that they inflict upon
themselves. Most of mine are from the UK and other European countries.

I agree. Run an antivirus program daily and use one that interacts
properly with your email program. Norton works great for me.

Subject: Virus going about?

There seems to be a virus attack going on. I got an infected message
supposedly from Angelo Sarto and BPS(Mary) got an infected message
supposedly from me.

Here is what I think is happening. Someone has people on the VNC list
in their address book (I don't have anyone on the list in mine - just
use 'Reply All') and their system became infected by this virus (Bagel
something). The virus stole their address book (as viruses are wont to
do) and is sending infected messages to people using names at random
from the address book for both the 'To' and 'From' addresses (that's
pretty easy to do!). The virus typically comes in an attachment named
'price.com'.

People who read this list are probably educated enough not to open any
attachment to an e-mail message (it's like opening a letter bomb that
comes through the regular mail!) but I would also encourage them to run
a virus scan every day (I run Norton every day at 7:00 AM) and delete
anything it finds unless the file is important; then quarantine it till
you can clear up the infection.

If anyone else experiences a virus please let the list know.

Alan.
