I'm running GNU/Linux (2.4.26) with X11R6.7 on a PC with the vnc 4.0 X11
module loaded in so I can access my desktop remotely.
I have lots of menus for accessing the machines I administrate all using
ssh with X11 forwarding. (the menus simply run something like: ssh -X -l
<myuser> <hostname). All the sshd on the target hosts (all Solaris 8
machines) have X11 forwarding turned on. All machines are running openssl
0.9.7d and openssh 3.8p1.
After connecting to my desktop I can use these menus to login to remote
machines and everything works fine. I can start X based apps and they
happily appear on my desktop, after a while (a few minutes) any attempt to
run an X based app gives me the following error:
Xlib: connection to "localhost:10.0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
Error: Can't open display: localhost:10.0
With the 10.0 being replaced by whatever virtual display is being used by
that ssh session.
I'm stumped ... this does not happen with my VNC servers running under
solaris ... and doesnt happen under standalone vncsevers started on the
same GNU/Linux box ... its only on the based desktop exported using the
Any help much appreciated.
