Slow speeds over gigabit network

Sorry for the duplicate but I missed the subject on the post.

We have RealVNC running on a P4 3.0 Windows machine as the server and
accessing it from another P4 windows machine.  They have gigabit cards in
them.  It is on a gigabit network with only 2 other computers.    The mouse
versus/pointer speeds are about 1 second delayed at best.  Everything is slow.

At my home, I have similar on a 100 mbit network and all is lightning fast.

Is it the gigabit?

I was able to move a 1 gb file from one machine to the other in about 20
seconds so it is not network speed related.
