Java tunneling to VNC

Namaste,

I'm new to VNC but have got the following configuration working, except for this
error.

Error: Unknown authentication scheme from RFB server: 1380336160

My VNC 3.3.7 server is running on a Linux RH 8.0, I'm accessing it from Windows
XP. I can get my X term on the high ports 580+ via an IE browser,
and can telnet to 590+ and get back the message "RFB 003.003". When I run the
java applet from "ergotech.com" I get the login page and type in
my password.
Then the above message! I have Apache 2.0.48 configured with Tomcat and all
works fine. I just can't get my X Term to come back using port 80
and the Java Applet provided. Any suggestions? Yes, I'd like to move to using
SSH, but first I'd like to see it work using port 80.

Do I need to pass an additional parameter?
Do I need to start my VNC server using a specific ID?
Please any thoughts?
