Problem with remote desktop

Hi
I have been using VNC without a problem. However recently I connected to a
Windows XP machine with VNC and with remote desk at the same time. My remote
desktop connection was set at a much higher resolution than the computer I was
connecting to. I then noticed that VNC seem to pick up the remote desktop
session and also show a greater resolution than the actual computer was
using.
However after I disconnected from remote desktop, VNC shows a blank screen now
and only shows a view when I again connect with remote desktop.
How do I get VNC viewer to see the actual terminal session now?
