http://www.realvnc.com/ services a HP-UX distribution for 11.x I still have to
Otherwise, I have the next info from an old (antique) message about vnc on hp-ux
10 (and 11):
Chuck Slivkoff was so kind to provide RealVNC 3.3.7 binaries for HPUX.
Download it from
You'll need to define FIXUP_CPP_WHITESPACE when you bootstrap imake along with
several other tweaks to build on HP-UX. The biggest problem I encountered is the
obsolete hp.cf imake file.
If you're interested, you can get my current RealVNC package for HP-UX here:
The depot image includes a patch against the 3.3.7 source to facilitate building
on HP-UX. I've included several fixes, specifically one which addresses aborts
in the font caching code.
An update to the RealVNC depot I announced last month is now available.
The build is based on RealVNC 3.3.7 with several HP-UX specific changes.
The original source as well as a patch containing my changes is included
in the depot.
I've fixed a couple of bugs and made a change to my build environment. If
your running either of the 3.3.6 or 3.3.7 builds that I posted previously,
I would highly recommend that you update.
- Build environment now PA1.1 compatible
- XK_Insert added to pre-defined keysyms (prevent Motif warnings)
- Font caching disabled to prevent Xvnc abort
I'd like to announce the availability of an HP-UX Software Distributor
package for RealVNC 3.3.6:
I've been using this build for several weeks and have done basic testing
of the packaging (swinstall/swremove/swverify/swcopy). This package will
install cleanly on HP-UX 11.0 and 11.11. I have not tried installing or
running it on any IPF systems, though it should theoretically run via
Aries. When I have some time, I will work on an IPF-specific build.
Besides isolating the root causes of the build problems I've also made
some HP-UX specific changes (ie, default font-path). I built VNC with
recent releases of HP's ANSI C/C++ compilers using PA2.0 optimizations.
This code will NOT run on older PA1.1 systems (see
/usr/sam/lib/mo/sched.models for a list).
Included in the depot is the original 3.3.6 source as well as a diff
against my build tree.
If there are any questions or comments either contact me directly or
post them to comp.sys.hp.hpux.
Oh, and many thanks to the VNC team for creating such a useful product!
